Privacy policy

When you use LotteryChecks we may collect the following:

• Account data: email and name, when you register
• Usage data: your number-check history and the numbers you save
• Technical data: IP address and User-Agent, for security

• To provide result checking and alerts
• To save a member's favourite numbers
• To improve the experience of using the site
• To keep the system secure

We do not sell or trade your personal data with anyone, and we do not disclose it to outside parties except in the following cases.

• Where the law requires disclosure.
• Google, as our advertising and traffic-analysis provider. Your browser may contact Google's servers to show ads and measure usage. Details are in sections 7 and 8 below.
• Histats, as our visitor-counter provider. Your browser contacts Histats' servers to record page views and show the counter in the site footer, starting from the first page you open, and stops at once if you reject the analytics category. Details are in section 8.

• Passwords are hashed with bcrypt
• Connections use HTTPS
• Access to data is limited to authorised administrators

• Ask to see your personal data
• Ask us to correct data that is wrong
• Ask us to delete your account and all of your data
• Cancel alerts at any time

Cookies on this site fall into three groups: necessary (login session, light or dark theme, and your own answer about cookies), analytics (our own counter, Histats and Google Analytics 4) and advertising (Google AdSense, see section 7).

The advertising group stays off until you allow it. The analytics group starts working from the first page you open and stops at once if you reject it, except Google Analytics, which waits for permission like the advertising group. You can change your mind at any time from the “Manage cookies” link in the site footer. The full list of every item, with its lifetime and owner, is in the cookie policy.

Our own visitor counter and Histats start counting from the first page you open. They do not wait until you accept. What is recorded is the page opened, the time, the country, the device type, the browser, a grouped screen size and the browser language. Your IP address is not stored. The number of “people” is calculated from a hash that changes every day and cannot be traced back to an IP address.

If you reject, both stop at once, and the values already stored on your device (ours and the Histats cookies) are deleted, not merely left unused. Google Analytics is different: it does not read or write analytics cookies at all until you accept.

Apart from cookies, our visitor counter keeps two values in your own browser. They are random numbers that are not tied to any identity and are never sent outside this site. They are deleted if you reject, and you can clear them yourself at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

• Visit session code: disappears as soon as you close the tab. It groups the pages opened in the same visit.
• Marker that this site has been opened before: it tells a first-time visitor from a returning one.

This site earns income from Google AdSense advertising, which is what allows the whole site to be free to use. When ads are shown, Google and its advertising partners may do the following.

• Use cookies, device identifiers, web beacons or similar technologies
• Process IP addresses, device identifiers and data about how pages are used
• Show both personalised and non-personalised ads
• Use data to show ads, measure results, report and prevent advertising fraud

This can happen even on a page where you do not see an ad box, because the advertising script runs from the moment the page loads. We say so here rather than only on pages that carry ads.

You are in control. Press “Reject all”, or switch off only the advertising category in the cookie settings panel, and we send a signal to Google through the Consent Mode v2 standard to stop using your data to choose ads. The result is that ads still appear but are general ads not chosen from your behaviour. Ads do not disappear.

You can set further options in Google's Ad Centre (myadcenter.google.com), which is Google's own page for managing or rejecting personalised ads on every site that uses its services. Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent as Google requires.

The LotteryChecks statistics system records, for each page view: the page opened, the page title, the time, the referring site, the device type, the browser, the operating system, the browser language, the screen resolution rounded into ranges, the approximate country and city, and the time spent on the page. This data stays in our system and is not passed to Google.

Our system does not store your IP address. It uses only a hash calculated from the IP address combined with the date, which cannot be traced back to the IP address and changes every day. All statistics data is deleted automatically after 180 days.

When you allow the analytics category, we also use Histats to count every public page view and show the counter in the site footer. Histats may set first-party cookies to tell visitors and visits apart. It is not loaded in the admin area or on widget pages that other sites embed.

We also use Google Analytics 4 to measure the number of users, pages opened, traffic sources and overall device and browser data. The Google tag works through Consent Mode v2. When you allow the analytics category, Google may set the cookies _ga and _ga_*, which last up to 2 years by default, to tell users apart and keep the state of a visit.

If you reject the analytics category, Histats and our own statistics system do not record page views. The Google tag does not read or write analytics cookies, but it may send cookieless measurements together with your consent status to Google to build modelled statistics, as Advanced Consent Mode works. You can change your answer at any time from the “Manage cookies” link in the site footer.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are announced on this page.
