How taksa divides the letters

The Thai taksa tradition divides the Thai letters into 8 groups: dependants, longevity, power, fortune, foundation, diligence, counsel and kalakini. Once the weekday of birth is known, one group falls as the kalakini of that person. Naming by this tradition means choosing letters from the groups that are auspicious for the birth day, especially power and fortune, which are said to support authority and wealth, and avoiding the kalakini group. It applies to Thai letters and, through their counterparts, to Lao letters.

Pythagorean letter values

Latin letters (English, Vietnamese without accents, and plates with Latin letters) use this table. The name's total is reduced to a single digit, keeping the master numbers 11, 22 and 33.

Burmese letters by birth weekday

In the Burmese naming tradition, a child's name traditionally begins with a letter of the group that belongs to the weekday of birth. Letters outside this table (such as the retroflex series) are placed differently by different sources, so they are reported as not in the table.

Should I include my surname?
